1. Website Administrator
This website, scandliines.world, is operated by the Scandliines Maritime Heritage website administrator, Prospect Rd, Halesowen, B62 8DZ, United Kingdom. Email: [email protected]. Telephone: 0121 585 5959. The administrator is the controller of personal data processed through this website.
2. Personal Data We Collect
You can read this website without providing personal data. We process:
- Contact form data: your name, email address, subject and message, and your consent confirmation.
- Technical data: our web server records standard log data such as IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type, for security and operation. The contact form also uses a temporary, IP-based record to limit repeated submissions.
- Cookie preferences: your consent choice is stored in your own browser (see our Cookie Policy).
We do not collect payment details, booking information, travel documents or special categories of personal data.
3. Contact Form Submissions
When you submit the contact form, your message is sent by email to [email protected] via a transactional email provider (Resend). Your email address is used only to reply to you.
4. Purposes of Processing
- To respond to your enquiry or correction.
- To keep the website secure and prevent abuse and spam.
- To remember your cookie choices.
5. Legal Bases
Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we rely on: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for contact form submissions and optional cookies; and our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure website and preventing spam.
6. Data Retention
Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and normally deleted within 12 months. Server logs are retained for a limited period, typically up to 30 days. Rate-limiting records are kept for about one hour.
7. Security Measures
The website is served over HTTPS. Form input is validated and sanitised on the server, API credentials are kept in server-side environment variables and never exposed in the browser, and access to messages is restricted to the administrator.
8. Email Communication
We will only email you in reply to your message. We do not send newsletters or marketing emails, and we do not sell or share your details for marketing.
9. Third-Party Services
- Resend — transactional email delivery of contact form messages.
- Hosting provider — servers that host this website and process server logs.
The website does not currently load third-party analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts.
10. International Data Transfers
Our email provider may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy arrangements recognised under UK and EU law.
11. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to a data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or the supervisory authority in your EU country.
